How we date here.

The short version

Be the kind of person you'd want to meet. That's it. The rest of this page is what that looks like in practice and what happens when it doesn't.

Be real

Your profile should look and sound like you. Real photos taken in the last two years. A bio in your voice. Prompts you'd actually say. We verify photos, but we also trust you to be honest about your age, your relationship intentions, and what you're looking for.

Photos

• At least one photo of your face, clearly visible, not from a distance
• No screenshots, no obvious filters that hide your features, no group shots only
• No photos of children — your nieces and nephews don't need to be on a dating app
• No photos of cars, weapons, dead animals as your main photo — keep it personal

Bio

• Your words. We use AI to check for AI-generated bios and flag the obvious ones
• No invitations to chat off-platform in the bio — that's a scam pattern
• No solicitation, no rates, no "financial support" requests

Be respectful

No hate speech. No harassment. No racism, sexism, homophobia, transphobia, or religious bigotry. Disagreement is fine — contempt is not. We don't host content that punches down on entire groups of people.

If someone tells you they're not interested, hear them. One follow-up message after a no is one too many. Unmatching is a complete sentence.

No money, ever

If someone you matched with brings up money — investments, emergencies, loans, gifts, crypto, anything — it is, with 99% probability, a scam. Don't send anything. Don't engage. Report them and block them.

We have automatic detection that flags messages mentioning common scam patterns (Western Union, crypto wallets, urgent transfers). Those messages get an in-line warning before they're delivered. We catch most. We don't catch all. Trust your instincts.

No minors

LoverSpot is 18+. Period. We use age verification at signup and remove any reported underage account within hours, with mandatory reporting to local authorities where applicable. We work with NCMEC and INHOPE on every report. There is no second chance on this rule.

Off-platform is on you

Once you exchange numbers or move the conversation off LoverSpot — to WhatsApp, iMessage, Signal, anywhere — we can't help you the same way. We can't moderate what we can't see. We strongly recommend keeping the first few conversations in-app.

What happens when rules are broken

Every report is reviewed by a human within 24 business hours. The outcome scales with the violation:

• Warning — for minor issues (off-tone joke, mild profile rule violation)
• Temporary suspension (7-30 days) — for repeated violations or moderate ones
• Permanent ban — for hate speech, harassment, scams, threats, or any safety violation
• Mandatory reporting — for child safety violations, where we contact authorities directly

Banned users get a one-time appeal. If approved, we explain why. If denied, the decision is final.
