Getting started

Signing up

Download LoverSpot from the App Store or Google Play. Open the app, enter your phone number, confirm the OTP code, accept the terms. Total: under 60 seconds.

Completing your profile

You need 6 photos, 3 prompt answers, and basic info (name, date of birth, location). Aim for 5-10 minutes. The strongest profiles include a photo of you doing something you love, a recent travel photo, and a clear portrait.

Verifying your photo

After your first photo upload, the app asks for a quick selfie matching three poses. Our system compares it against your profile photos to make sure you're the person in them. Takes ~30 seconds.

Discovering people

Once verified, you'll see people in your discovery feed. Tap heart to like a specific photo or prompt. Tap X to skip. Both expand the people you see. Premium gets you a curated daily Top Picks feed.

Account & profile

Editing your profile

Settings → My profile — change photos, prompts, height, education, lifestyle preferences, gender preferences, age range, distance, and visibility.

Hiding your profile

Settings → Pause — your profile disappears from discovery and you can't be searched. Existing matches and conversations stay intact. Unpause anytime.

Incognito (Premium)

Browse without being seen. People you like still see you. People you skip never knew you were there.

Changing your phone number

Settings → Account → Change phone. We send an OTP to the new number to verify. Your account, matches, and history move over.

Matching & messaging

How matching works

When you like someone, they get notified you liked them (or which specific photo). When they like you back, you match and the chat opens. Like-first sends them a tease; like-back matches you.

Why your matches expire

If neither of you sends a message within 7 days of matching, the match disappears. This is intentional — it keeps the matches list fresh and reduces the "thousand sitting matches and zero conversations" problem.

Opening Moves

Every profile has a prompt you can reply to as your first message. Tap the prompt to reply directly — it shows up as a real conversation, not a "hey".

Video calls

Once you've exchanged at least 4 messages, you can request a video call in-chat. The other person has to accept. Calls are 15 minutes by default; you can extend together.

Dates

Proposing a date

Tap the calendar icon in any chat to propose a date. Pick a venue from our curated list (or your own spot), pick a date and time, send. They confirm — the date goes on both calendars.

Rescheduling

Either party can reschedule once with no penalty, up to 4 hours before the date. Beyond that, you can still reschedule but it's noted on your activity (frequent late changes can affect your match rate).

Our local editors visit and vet venues. See the date spots page for the methodology. If you have a venue we should know about, message us via Settings → Help → Suggest a venue.

Subscriptions

Comparing tiers

See the premium page for a full comparison. The short version: Plus = unlimited rewinds + see who liked you. Gold = adds unlimited Super Likes, read receipts, priority discovery. Premium = adds incognito + curated daily picks.

Cancelling

iOS: Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions. Android: Play Store → Subscriptions. Cancellation takes effect at the end of your current billing period — features stay until then.

Refunds

Handled by Apple/Google. We don't have direct access. Contact Apple Support or Google Play Support.

Safety

Blocking

Open the profile or chat → ⋯ menu → Block. They can't see, match with, or message you. They aren't notified you blocked them.

Reporting

Open any profile, message, or photo → Report. Pick a category (harassment, scam, fake, underage, other). A real human reviews within 24 business hours.

What we do with reports

Trained moderators look at each report. Outcomes scale with the violation — see community guidelines.

Privacy

Downloading your data

Settings → Privacy → Download my data. We bundle everything we have on you into a JSON file you can keep, share, or import elsewhere.

Deleting your data

Settings → Privacy → Delete account. See the delete account page for what happens, what stays, and the timeline.

Changing privacy settings

Settings → Privacy — toggle distance display, last-active visibility, screenshot warnings, and visibility on search results.
