Overview

LoverSpot cooperates with law enforcement in compliance with applicable law and our terms of service. This page describes the process for requesting user data, preservation, and emergency disclosure.

All requests are reviewed by our legal team. We don't comply with requests that don't follow proper legal process, and we push back when requests appear overbroad or outside applicable jurisdiction.

How to reach us

All law enforcement requests should be sent to [email protected] from an official law enforcement email domain.

Include in the subject line: "Law enforcement request — [your jurisdiction]". Standard requests are acknowledged within 24 business hours; emergency requests within 4 hours.

What we require

For standard requests

Valid legal process from a competent authority with jurisdiction. For US requests this is typically a subpoena, court order, or search warrant. For non-US requests, we require an MLAT (Mutual Legal Assistance Treaty) request or equivalent.

For emergency disclosure

We comply with emergency disclosure requests where there is an imminent threat to life or safety. Submit via our standard email channel with "EMERGENCY" in the subject line. Include sufficient detail to demonstrate the emergency.

For preservation

We preserve relevant account data for 90 days upon written request from law enforcement, pending a follow-up legal request. Preservation requests should specify the user accounts and time periods relevant.

What we provide

Depending on the legal process and jurisdiction, we may provide:

• Basic subscriber information (name, email, phone number, IP addresses used)
• Account creation date and last activity
• Message content — only with appropriate legal process (court order or search warrant)
• Photos and other content shared
• Connection logs

We do not provide cleartext passwords (we don't store them — they're hashed). We do not provide encryption keys for end-to-end encrypted content.

What we will not do

• Comply with requests that don't follow proper legal process
• Provide content protected by relevant privilege
• Disclose information without proper jurisdiction
• Provide "backdoor" or general surveillance access
• Disclose the existence of a request when prohibited by law (gag orders are honored as required)

Transparency

We publish an annual transparency report covering: total law enforcement requests received, requests granted in full / part / denied, requests by country, and emergency disclosures. The most recent report is at newsroom.

For non-law-enforcement civil parties

Civil subpoenas and discovery requests go through our legal team at [email protected]. We require proper legal process and may move to quash requests we find overbroad.
